Retail giant Walmart has launched a subscription service, allowing customers to receive regular shipments of everyday essentials. According to a September 20 statement from Walmart, the service enables shoppers to subscribe to various products, including food, paper goods, and pet supplies. Customers using Walmart.com or the Walmart app can set a preferred delivery schedule, whether it's every two weeks or every two months.
This move by Walmart is seen as a direct challenge to Amazon's long-standing Subscribe & Save program, which was first introduced in 2007. And while Amazon's program offers discounts of up to 15% on subscriptions with five or more items, Walmart's service does not provide any discount on subscribed items.
According to Winsight Grocery, Amazon reported that its subscription program saved customers more than $1 billion in the previous year. Walmart's entry into this space highlights its commitment to providing a convenient and competitive shopping experience.
