We are excited to welcome Sean Cuthbertson to the BOLD team as our newest Retail Media Director!
Sean has over 15 years of experience leading digital and eCommerce initiatives for world-class brands like Cheerios, Larabar, Nature Valley, True Valley, Allstate, Ragu, Delta, Pedigree dog food, and more. This father of two and real estate buff joins BOLD to bring his extensive CPG brand experience and knowledge to the team.
We wanted to get to know more about Sean in his own words. Here's what he had to say...
Where do you call home?
Arlington Heights, IL, about 25 miles NW of Chicago. I've also lived in Minneapolis and Nashville but am happy to be back in Chicago and call it home.
Why did you decide to join Bold Strategies?
I've spent 15 years in digital marketing and eCommerce and have really seen the shift over the last two years to eCommerce and retail media. Knowing what's coming with the "death of the 3rd party cookie," retail data/advertising is going to be king. Coming from the brand side, I know first-hand the help brands need to navigate this space. The way Bold is uniquely positioned to help brands in eCommerce and retail media to grow in new ways was something I couldn't pass up.
What's the first thing you ever bought on Amazon.com? What does that say about you?
I had to dig deep into the archives of my purchase history, and according to that, my first purchase was around 11 years ago when I bought a Chicago Cubs art table for my 2-year-old nephew (although I'm pretty sure I purchased textbooks from Amazon while in college).
What is that one song that's the soundtrack to your life? If you're not a music lover, what's your favorite book?
Living in Nashville for three years turned me into a bit of a country and singer-songwriter junkie, so depending on the season of life, it changes. But if I had to pick one for my current season, I'd say "Homegrown" by Zac Brown Band. It makes me think of coming back to the Chicago area where I grew up (granted, not the countryside like the song), being thankful for everything I've got, and being surrounded by friends and family.
If you could hop on a plane and not have to worry about expenses, where would you go?
I'm a golf nerd, so I'd love to go to Scotland and play all the classics where the game was born.
"I'm happiest when I'm..."
when I'm with my family and investing into the #GirlDad bond and building memories. Everything from running around on the beach, making memories at the lake house, or just snuggling on the couch watching Bluey.
"People would be surprised to know that..."
I love real estate and DIY projects at home. Probably to the dismay of my wife at times because I'm not inherently handy...I call myself "YouTube handy." I'm always looking at Redfin & Zillow, and HGTV is on all the time at our house. If I weren't in marketing, I definitely would be in real estate.
